Congratulations to Juliette Garay and Jack Stylli for winning their respective divisions in our latest club championship. The cool and windy day made it quite a challenge to score low and both champions were as much survivors as victors.Jack won his 1st club championship by way of a tie-breaking card-off with previous champ Tyler Connolly. Both competitors totaled 48 strokes through nine holes, with the match turning on the tough seventh hole. The seventh, a long, dog-leg right par 4, has played a pivotal role in determining the champion once again. Jack's gutsy bogey 5 bettered Tyler's dreaded 'snowman' by three strokes and provided just enough cushion over the final two holes to secure a card-off victory.
Missing out on the tie-breaker by only stroke was Alex Rembolt. Alex had a slim one stroke lead
In the girls division, Juliette Garay reclaimed the co-champion's title by outlasting Melina Mastrodimus by two strokes. Juliette built a comfortable four stroke lead after four holes and was cruising to a 5-stroke victory...and then things got interesting! Melina played the last hole well and actually had a putt to make a bogey 6 and force Juliette to make her putt to avoid another tie-breaker card-off. Alas the Melina's putt just slid by the hole and Juliette's unlikely quintuple-bogey 10 was just good enough to give her a second championship title in three attempts.
