Congratulations to Daniel Hoppen and Stephen Jin for being the 1st junior program members to complete a scoring lesson with coach Chris Lempa. On a beautiful Fall afternoon with temperatures comfortably in the mid-70’s, Stephen and Daniel took on the 1st three holes of the North Course, playing the course strictly within the rules of golf. The scoring lesson is designed to introduce the competitive environment of tournament golf to members who want to test their golf games under the guidance of an instructor. Instructors help the players warm-up before the lesson and act as both the player’s caddie and rules official during the outing, giving advice on how to get the ball into hole in the fewest strokes possible. Along the way, coaches record important information about the competitor’s play, such as fairways driven and greens hit in regulation.
Here are the results for Daniel’s and Stephen’s afternoon outing:
| Member | Level | Total Strokes | Total Putts | Fairways | Greens |
| Daniel Hoppen | Gold | 17 | 5 | 0 | 1 |
| Stephen Jin | Red | 23 | 8 | 1 | 0 |
These results will be compared to performance goals at the end of the month for prizes like free entries into group clinics and merchandise from our golf shop. As scores from scoring lessons come in from other members, Daniel and Stephen have additional chances for gifts as their statistics are compared head-to-head against their peers.
